Mill Town
Mill Town pays homage to the forgotten history of the innovative textile mills that once dotted the landscape in New England from the late 1800’s through the 1950’s. The workers ranged from “mill girls”, children, and immigrants. Social changes to the work day and child protection that we adhere to today were made into law due to the life that these workers endured. Heritage Jacquard loomed bedspreads, still made in Maine today, were used for the core fabrication.
